Platform.
The word makes me think of a space platform.
I imagine a writer perched on a wooden square suspended in space, galaxies and nebulae whirling about it. And whenever I get brave enough to peer over the edge, I gaze into the accretion disk of a supermassive black hole. Despite there not being sound in space (or wooden platforms for that matter), it would roar like a vast ocean.
This is the writerly platform for me, Nancy Chenier, often writing under N. E. Chenier to differentiate me from an already-established academic sharing my name. Plus, I’ve always enjoyed the wordplay my first two initials give to any surname. As per the title, I’m all about spec-fic, everything from sic-fi to fantasy to slipstream to whatever may be coming next.
Just read your story on IU and had to find the source. 🙂
Chris James and I are sci-fi writers too, although in very different areas. It’s great to meet another sci-fi bod – there aren’t that many of us around.

Howdy! I’m glad something came out of it.
Are you in this week’s IU contest? I didn’t see Chris James up there either. I’ll certainly look out for both of you.

hey, thank you for the follow; great flash you created there. Big worlds in small spaces. Excellent.
